Delivering to the listeners of the world the music which directly reflects what the musicians get from the Muses -- that is why I published the Japanese edition of Monthly DAICHI Music Webzine in October 2004. Though countless quantity of music is published everyday, I feel the music today is too much influenced by human intentions, i.e., by business reasons or by the composer's personal intentions, sometimes by the musical grammar. But, in the beginning, the music was not a human product. It was given from heaven and earth as we see in the works of Hesiod or Homer. We need such music from heaven and earth again.

I was very much inspired by Idaki Shin (Tadamitsu Saito). At his concerts, he feels what is going on in the body and spirit of the audience, what is going on in the society and the world, in nauture and even in the universe and expresses them by the improvisation of the piano or syntnesizers, without any his own intention. In fact, when I isten to his music, I feel traveling through the vast universe, transcending time and space. After the concert each audience seems to be happy and looks very much energetic. Many testify that they found solutions during the concert to the problems they had faced. That is the incredible effect of the music from heaven and earth, I believe.

Toshiyuki Sekine, Tango Kuroneko, COSMO and HIRO -- all the musicians gathering here are my friends and have nothing in common as their backgrounds but the encounters with Idaki Shin. Through the repeated experiences of Idaki Shin's counseling and sensitivity training concerts, they know what is going on deep at heart and in the nature and how to express it by music. I hope theirs will also be the music from heaven and earth, and such music from the heart and from the nature can really touch the people's hearts, make them happy and open the door to a brighter tomorrow. That is why I name this webzine "DAICHI," a Japanese word for "the earth."

Now I am very pleased to publish the international version of Monthly DAICHI Music Webzine. I hope the music from this webzine will make more and more people of the world happier than ever.

• MUSIC OF THE MONTH
• DAICHI / Tango Kuroneko
music by Tango Kuroneko (synth) (6:27 5.9MB)

The word "daichi (the earth)" reminds the editor Masahiro Takuma of the magnificent scenary of the Rift Valley in Ethiopia he visited in 2001. Based on the picutres he took there, Tango Kuroneko wrote a theme music of DAICHI Music Webzine, celebrating its publication. Now let us begin the new DAICHI webzine with this tune. You can enjoy Shockwave movie where the music and the pictures are beautifully blended.

• Little Mona / Toshiyuki Sekine
music by Toshiyuki Sekine (pf, key) (3:01 2.7MB)
This is a very romantic jazz waltz by Toshiyuki Sekine, one of the most famous Japanese pianist who played with Miroslav Vitous and Nana Vasconcelos in George Ohtsuka Band.

• Samba Musa / COSMO
music by COSMO (synth) (2:31 2.3MB)
COSMO is a healing musician, aiming to unite the universe (Cosmic Arts), human body (Cosmic Reme) and human spirit (Cosmic Muse) at her workshop COSMIC ARM. In this issue, she makes us happy by her favourite Latin music.

• A Passage to Kumano / HIRO
music by HIRO (pf) (2:49 2.6MB)
The pilgrimage routes to Kumano shrines in the central Japan were registered as World Heritage in 2004. HIRO visited there in 2003 and was inspired to write this tune.

"As I walked the path in the mountain, I felt like seeing people in the old days, men and women, young and old, walking along with me. Many people, generations by generations, made pilgrimage in quest of peace and happiness, the truth of life." (HIRO)

• HANABI / Tango Kuroneko
music by Tango Kuroneko (synth) (6:27 5.9MB)
This piece was written inspired by the Fireworks Festival at the Tamagawa riverside in Tokyo in summer 2004 and another collaboration with Masahiro Takuma's photography. "Hanabi" is a Japanese word for "fireworks" and the Japanese people enjoy fireworks in the hottest season of the year because the beauty and loudness of fireworks are believed to cool down the heat. :-)

• FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK
● International Edition Published!

Phew! The first issue of Monthly DAICHI Music Webzine International Edition was published at last! As we started Japanese edition aiming to make our music known to as many people as possible, the international edition had been desired by our musicians. But I felt it was not the time taking into consideration the internet environment in 2004. A new year 2008 began and I judged "Now's the time!"

International Edition will be published on third Saturday every month and will include 4 or 5 pieces of music. All the music are the originals by the DAICHI musicians and you cannot find them anywhere else but on this site. So please look forward to the coming issues.

It would be highly appreciated if you would send us your comments and suggestions by e-mail.

Thank you and best regards,
